I have a long-standing interest and experience in the care and collection of works on paper.
I have worked for 22 years as Senior Curator at the Department of Prints & Drawings at the National Gallery of Scotland. I left at the end of March 2012 to concentrate on Iconic Design.
My area of expertise is in Scottish Art. During my time in the Gallery, I was responsible for a number of exhibitions - including shows on D.Y. Cameron, Alexander Nasmyth, The Glasgow Boys, William McTaggart, George Bain (in liason with Groam House Museum), Scottish Landscapes (shown at the Feigen Gallery, New York and the Fleming Collection, London).
I also worked with Sir Timothy Clifford on a touring show and catalogue “Designs of Desire” which looked at the history of architectural drawings and Ornament Prints (shown at the Burrell Collection, Glasgow, The National Gallery of Scotland, Canada House, London and Temple Newsam House, Leeds).
I have been responsible for the care, display & documentation of a collection of over 30,000 works on paper in the Gallery.
I also have many years experience working with a number of national & international museums and galleries; as well as the acquisition of works for the Scottish National Collection.

Our shop (pictured above), until late 2015, was located in Edinburgh's historic Grassmarket Area, just below the Castle Rock and offering fantastic views to the Castle.
The shop had an eclectic range of art and design items - many unique. Iconic Design was a treasure trove of unusual designs: featuring everything from antique Scottish artefacts and etchings to cool ceramics & modern 1970s plastics.
In January 2016, we have decided to close down our original Grassmarket store to concentrate more on our online ventures. We are happy to offer local pick up or deliveries - and also happy to ship all pieces.
We also buy quality prints and drawings & paintings, please get in contact with us to discuss items you may wish to sell.
Please note that we do not offer a free valuations or advice service - a specialist Art & Design consultation service is currently available for inquiries with prices starting at £45 per hour, depending on the complexity of any research or project development to be undertaken.
